An Invitation To The Father’s Table

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”  – Jesus

Come To The Table is a regional gathering for communion. It is a response to the prayer of Jesus as he concluded the Passover gathering with his disciples. And it is a return to the One who transcends our differences and unites us in His Body.

We’ll begin in the forenoon with a time of worship and prayer, continue in the afternoon with teaching, and conclude around 4:00 PM with communion. IN CHRIST, there is more than enough for all of our needs! So, we invite you to “come to the table” on March 21, and join us in remembering the body and blood of Jesus and responding to his prayer for the oneness of the bride.

“Whoever has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches”

These were the words that came to John on the isle of Patmos, spoken by a Man with eyes of blazing fire, whose voice was like the sound of rushing waters. And those are the words that still cut to the heart of every leader in the Body of Christ today. A stark reminder that we are not merely coordinating our own ideas, plans, and programs. But rather, that our first obligation, first love, and first call is to the One who said “I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” This is our confidence: that Jesus Christ, through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, is building his church and he will not fail. This is our responsibility: to submit our hearts to the leadership of Jesus and guide others to do the same.

As we scan the spiritual landscape around us, it’s not hard to point out the many obstacles and pitfalls in it. Our authority does not come from discerning problems, our authority comes from discerning solutions given to us by God in His Word. What is the Spirit saying to the churches? What is the “wisdom from above” that will help us lead with courage and faith?

We believe the Holy Spirit is magnifying the significance of communion to the Body of Christ right now. We believe this has been the work of the Holy Spirit ever since Jesus said “do this in remembrance of me” but this call is especially clear and urgently needed today. A generation marked by division, overwhelmed with information, and longing for authenticity is ready to hear the simplicity, the purity, and the truth of this call: The Table of the Lord has a place set for you – will you come?

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

And what is communion except the participation in Christ’s body and blood? And what is the Father’s table if it is not set with this most precious of all provision? Truly, when we take communion, we encounter a mystery, to be received with reverence and the fear of the Lord.

What is communion for?
It is given to remind us of the nearness of Christ and our access to fellowship with him:
Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

It is given to strengthen us in the face of trials and adversity:
Psalm 23:5-6 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

It is given to heal our wounds, both physically and spiritually:
Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

It is given to us for reconciliation. Scripture tells us that “on the night Jesus was betrayed,” He sat with His disciples, broke bread and offered them the cup. We see that Communion was meant for betrayal. When we remember the broken body of Jesus we must remember that he said – from the cross – “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Communion brings our divisions and differences into the perspective of the cross, and makes it possible for us to be reconciled to one another for His sake.

Communion is all these things and many more. But ultimately, it is a place at the Father’s table.

We invite you to “Come To The Table” and experience the power of communion once again.
